Grants for Arts Organizations

The Winnipeg Arts Council provides funding to not-for-profit Winnipeg arts organizations through the following multidisciplinary grant programs:

PROJECT GRANT PROGRAM for Arts Organizations

This program is intended for new and developing arts organizations, established arts organizations that work on a project basis, and arts organizations undertaking a special, one-time initiative. It is designed to provide partial support to a broad range of activities and art forms, reflecting different cultural traditions and art practices. A Project Grant must be applied to a specific project—with potential for artistic merit and community impact—planned to take place within the 18 months following the notification date. This Program is not open to existing Operating Grant clients.

Maximum Grant
Up to $15,000

Deadlines
January 8, 2013 for projects beginning after April 8, 2013  and July 16, 2013 for projects beginning after October 16, 2012

PROGRAMME DE SUBVENTIONS POUR PROJETS SPÉCIAUX à l’intention des organismes voués aux arts

Ce programme est destiné aux organismes voués aux arts nouveaux ou en développement, aux organismes établis voués aux arts qui fonctionnent par projet et aux organismes voués aux arts qui préparent une initiative ponctuelle spéciale. Il vise à financer partiellement une vaste gamme d’activités et de disciplines artistiques, reflétant différentes traditions culturelles et pratiques de l’art. Les subventions peuvent s’appliquer à un projet particulier offrant une valeur artistique et des retombées éventuelles sur la collectivité et qui doit se dérouler dans les dix-huit mois suivant la date de notification. Ce programme ne s’adresse pas aux organismes bénéficiant déjà d’une subvention de fonctionnement versée par le Conseil des arts de Winnipeg.

Subvention Maximale
La subvention maximale accordée dans le cadre du Programme de subventions pour projets spéciaux s’élève à 15 000 $.

Dates limites
Le 8 janvier pour les projets amorcés après le 8 avril 2013

Le 16 juillet pour les projets amorcés après le 16 octobre 2013

THE NEW CREATIONS FUND for Arts Organizations

The New Creations Fund encourages and supports creativity in Winnipeg by making funding available that contributes to the creation of significant and innovative new works of art in any discipline or combination of disciplines, the scope of which may not otherwise be possible.  Projects supported by this program should have the potential to make significant contributions to the art forms they represent.  A two-part, flexible award structure provides access to support in the earliest stages of a new work’s development, and rewards excellence in the later stages when the shape and direction of the new work have been determined.

The New Creations Fund is suspended until further notice.

FONDS NOUVELLES CRÉATIONS pour les organismes voués aux arts

Le Fonds Nouvelles créations encourage et appuie la créativité à Winnipeg en offrant du financement qui contribue à la création d’œuvres d’art importantes et novatrices, quelle que soit la discipline ou la combinaison de disciplines, d’une ampleur qui ne serait pas forcément possible autrement. Les projets soutenus dans le cadre de ce programme doivent être susceptibles d’apporter des contributions importantes aux formes d’art qu’ils représentent. Une structure de subvention souple et en deux parties donne accès à du financement dès les premiers stades de la réalisation d’une nouvelle œuvre, puis finance l’excellence au cours des stades ultérieurs, lorsque la forme et l’orientation de la nouvelle œuvre ont été déterminées.

Le Fonds Nouvelles créations est suspendu jusqu’a nouvel ordre.

MULTI-YEAR OPERATING GRANT PROGRAM – 2012 and 2013 for Arts Organizations

The Operating Grant program is intended to provide ongoing partial support to established arts organizations that have a continuing presence in Winnipeg and a track record of high quality programming or services. It is designed to support a range of activities and art forms, reflecting different cultural traditions and art practices. Organizations receiving support are expected to contribute to the development of their art form, to participate in the development of local artists, to maintain a reasonable level of public support and to maintain strict management and financial controls.

Please note: Due to budgetary constraints, acceptance into this program for new applicants is limited. If you have never received a Winnipeg Arts Council Operating Grant, but meet all of the eligibility criteria and have successfully received funding from the Winnipeg Arts Council, please contact the Program Assistant to set up a meeting to determine advisability of applying to this program. Applicants who do not qualify for operating funding may be eligible for support from the Winnipeg Arts Council’s Project Grant Program.

The next Operating Grant program deadline will occur in Fall 2013

Operating Grant Program Interim Report:
Organizations currently in the Operating Grant program are required to submit a satisfactory interim report before funds for year 2 of the two-year cycle can be released.  Copies of all requirements will be mailed to each organization, but they can also be downloaded directly from this website.

Subvention de fonctionnement pluriannuelle 2012-2013 - Directives du programme

Mettant l’accent sur l’excellence artistique et les retombées communautaires, le Conseil des arts de Winnipeg finance, soutient et favorise l’essor des arts au nom de la population de Winnipeg.



Le programme de subvention de fonctionnement a pour but d’offrir un financement partiel continu à des organismes voués aux arts établis et présents à Winnipeg, et dont les antécédents sont excellents en matière de programmation ou de services. Il vise à financer une vaste gamme d’activités et de disciplines artistiques, reflétant différentes traditions culturelles et pratiques de l’art. Les organismes qui reçoivent un soutien financier sont censés contribuer à l’essor de leur discipline artistique, participer à l’épanouissement des artistes locaux, maintenir un niveau raisonnable de financement public et tenir une gestion rigoureuse et des contrôles financiers.
