City of Winnipeg Archives ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE
Attention
VISUAL, MEDIA, and VIDEO ARTISTS
FILMMAKERS, WRITERS
The City of Winnipeg Archives is a relatively uptapped source of
information about Winnipeg's long and storied past. The
Artist-in-Residence project is a unique opportunity for an artist to
explore the memory of the City and to reflect on record keeping as a
way of understanding the culture of place while creating a permanent
work of art.
The selected artist will be in residence over a six-month period,
beginning in September 2007, and will have access to archival materials
that include textual records, photographs, documentary art, moving
image and sound records and maps and plans.
Interested artists must submit a complete application package to be considered.
An on-site information meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 5:00
- 7:00 pm at the City of Winnipeg Archives, 380 William Avenue.
Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, July 3, 2007.
